Frequently asked questions
What do you like to write about?
Ok, so there’s loads of stuff that I will happily talk about until the cows come home. I believe that, for writing to be really effective, you have to buy in to the topic and its purpose. Anything that is to the point, connects with the target market, promotes learning and understanding about new products or ideas gets my vote.
What topics have you written about before?
Take a look at the list below. If your topic isn’t there, let me know.
Science- I have a BSc(hons) degree in Biology with French and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education. I have planned, delivered and proofread hundreds of learning programmes and lesson materials in physics, chemistry, biology and science-related topics- including pharmaceuticals, health, energy and the environment.
Agriculture– I was a farm girl in a previous life so I can relate well to this industry.
France and the French language- these are close to my heart as I taught this subject for 15 years, lived in France as a student and frequently visit this beautiful country on holiday. I can happily talk about the UK, Italy, Spain, the USA and Australia too.
What’s your experience of establishing and running a new business or project?
Apart from establishing my own here-😉I love getting new projects off the ground and have a clear system for processes, communication and working to tight deadlines to achieve this aim. Get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out the contact form on the landing page for further details.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’ve just completed a project writing PR, web copy and business flyers to help a client launch a new business. I’m currently helping to raise advertising and sponsorship for our village festival which is a great community event and raises lots of money for charity. It’s in its early stages but you can take a peek at brinklowfest.co.uk.
Do you have any other business experience?
I set up and ran my own successful tutoring business from scratch for five years around family life. This doubled in size over a few years with students gaining on average 2 grades higher than their previous performance levels.
What else are you interested in?
I’m passionate about environmental and community causes. I’m on a reader panel for a well-known ladies’ magazine and frequently test products and contribute to their surveys. I love cooking and have a food intolerance so I’m also interested in vegan baking.
As a mum, I can relate well to articles about family life, parenting and budgeting.
Below are just a few examples of writing projects that I’ve completed over the past 20 years and in my recent copy writing and proof-reading training. Do have a look and get in touch if you would like further details of them.
I’m also learning digital marketing and web design.
Promotional materials/newsletters to improve communication between teachers and parents
Writing schemes of work in science and French.
Revision/homework packs- for promoting self-study- most of my students went up by at least 2 grades after tutoring- so if you’re in this market, I’d definitely recommend checking them out.
Educational blogs- learning styles and overcoming barriers to learning. There are so many topics I could talk about here. Get in touch for further details.
Questionnaires for raising whole school performance- for example an anti-bullying campaign and a workshop in managing challenging behaviour and how to implement a positive behaviour management strategy.
Mentoring and proofreading teacher training assignments for a mature student with English as a foreign language- enabling her to pass her teacher training course and teach science.
